Find Your Village

Childbirth classes are a fantastic way to learn about child birthing options, comfort measures, and what is happening within your body and your baby’s body through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. They give parents the opportunity to get the run-down on the what, when, where, why, and how of pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum.

This is your birth – own it!

Newborn classes, parenting classes, and feeding classes can help prepare you for what to expect following your birth. Basic newborn care, breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, diapering, swaddling, parenting styles, safety, and soothing techniques are just some of the topics covered in a newborn care class.

This is the instruction book your baby should come with!

As a Certified Childbirth Educator, my hopes are to provide childbirth education classes, newborn classes, parenting classes, and feeding classes that are real and prepare you for actual success. My own personal experiences in birth and parenting have been varied and I firmly believe that every child, parent, and family needs different things. And sometimes those things aren’t known until you are in the moment! The first step in succeeding, whether it be for your pregnancy, birthing experience, or parenting, is to educate yourself… without the sugar coating.

Birth is not always calm or beautiful. It is raw, gritty, and primal. Whatever choices you make for your birth can change in the blink of an eye, for better or worse. And no matter what birth plans or preferences you may have, it is important to learn how to go with the flow and make quick decisions or choices. My classes offer a wide variety of evidence-based information, role playing opportunities, and real talk to prepare you for many options and possibilities.

Sure – you can read pregnancy, birthing, and parenting books and learn a great deal. That’s how my personal journey into birth work began! But classes bring another level to your learning, allowing you to share your thoughts and ideas, as well as listen to others. It opens the dialogue for certain subjects between yourself and your partner. A childbirth educator can bring together their collective knowledge, combined with books read, diagrams, and activities to put all the pieces together for you. As an added bonus, you get to meet other local expecting parents who are due around a similar time because it truly takes a village!
